Ever wondered why Helion floats? Or why many Ziosans wear masks? Read below to find out!

Helion
It's unknown how or why Helion floats, but the story goes that the island in the sky was blessed by the gods themselves, giving it some sort of mystical power. The Meizons originated from Helion, and it's said that the island's mystical power was what gave the Meizons great skill in magic. When the Meizons began conquering the lands below, they united their territories under one king and named the country "Myriad" which means "infinite."
Meizons have been the rulers for as long as anyone can remember. A Meizon family would rule until the citizens were unhappy with them. At that point, they would be overthrown by another Meizon family and that family would rule next. Some families would rule for hundreds of years, others for only a week.
When other races started moving into Helion and cultures started to blend, technology started to develop. Helion now has a steampunk appearance, being the most technologically advanced region in Myriad.

Ivora
Ivora was the first territory to be conquered by the Meizons, and probably one of the easiest. Not a whole lot of people lived there, except for a few small Lisani groups that were pushed out of Lisadt. The Meizons built the city of Jogano, which did very well until everyone suddenly disappeared. More people live in Ivora now, usually near or in the city areas.

Lisadt
Lisadt was the homeland of the Lisani people. They usually lived in nomadic groups and each group had a chief or leader. The Sapiens, Kromes, and Faeans started moving in, pushing the Lisani off their lands and sparking many wars. The Meizons took advantage of the warring races and conquered Lisadt, making it the second territory of Myriad. The Meizons then built the Fiori Pyramids and the city of Fiori around it, while also working to ease the tensions between the Kromes, Sapiens, Faeans, and Lisani. Lisadt is a peaceful land now, with it's green forests, plains, hills, and favorable climate.

Utaar
Utaar was very prone to uprisings. The rulers were typically selfish and greedy, and it was common for kings to be overthrown every other week. Because of all the chaos, the Meizons had little problems conquering Utaar, adding it as Myriad's third region. At first, the Utaarians were resistant to Meizon rule, as all of their kings were terrible at their jobs. They assumed that being ruled by a Meizon wouldn't be any better. The Meizon king at the time worked to create peace in Utaar, and the Utaarians slowly accepted their new king. Utaar is now a land full of lost treasure and is a big target for treasure hunters.

Insund
Insund was the fourth region to be conquered and was also the hardest territory to take over. The cave tunnels leading to Insund were difficult to move troops through and the Arkana people were known as one of the fiercest warriors on the continent. It took a total of 3 tries by the Meizons to successfully conquer Insund. However, the Meizons were so terrified of the Arkana that they wouldn't let them leave Insund or go into other territories. About 20 years ago, Queen Ivaline, a Drakian and the current queen of Myriad, decided to free the Arkana from Insund, making it the greatest achievement of her rule.

Zios
When the Meizons conquered Zios and made it the fifth region of Myriad, they noticed something rather odd about the inhabitants. Almost every person in Zios was wearing a masquerade mask. They asked the Ziosans why they wear them, and they told a story about a young hero who freed them from an evil king.
Years ago, a man who was thought to be working with a demon got hold of the throne of Zios. He sucked the life out of the land, to satisfy his tastes for luxury, and the people suffered. Many skilled assassins tried to kill the king, but failed each time because the demon protected the king from harm. All of the assassins were quickly tracked down and beheaded. One day, a young fisherman, not even 16 years old, came to the castle armed with a bow, a single arrow, and wearing a decorated mask that covered only his eyes. The boy prayed to the god of air to let his arrow fly straight. He shot the only arrow he had, and it pierced both the demon and the king, killing them. Life was restored to Zios, and the boy, believed to be named Aizel, became a hero. Since then, many Ziosans have worn masquerade masks to honor Aizel, and as a symbol of pride for their region.

Verin
Verin was the last region added to Myriad. There weren't very many people living in Verin when it was conquered, except for a few island tribes. The Meizons were very impressed by Verin's beaches and rainforests. They also named each of the islands Tenoru, Ister, Kaiv, Isle of the Strange, Falan, Astila, Tendrice, Wistina, and Culora. However, the island of Culora was renamed to Island of the Lost Girl after a little girl was murdered there and people began leaving dolls there for her spirit to rest. Now, a lot of tourists come to Verin to relax.

So there you have it, Myriad's history in a nutshell. CX
